New Bridges project improves the interaction between the city and the countryside
The New Bridges project develops new tools for controlling the interaction between city and countryside. The Regional Council of Southwest Finland and the city of Turku are a part of the creation of the city area's structural model.
PaikkaOppi project
GIS learning portal for students is developed during 2008-2010. The aim of the project is to give teachers and students easy access to geographical datasets and guidance for using GIS. Project partners are: Regional Council of SW Finland, Arbonaut ltd, Geodetic institute of Finland and the cities of Turku and Joensuu. The Geographical Institutions of the Universities of Turku, Joensuu and Helsinki function as tutors. Project planner: Juha Riihelä (juha.riihela@varsinais-suomi.fi).

The renewal of Lounaispaikka spatial data infrastructure project started in February 2009 and will continue to July 2010. The aim of the project is to combine Lounaispaikka map service, metadata service and GI archive into one portal. Project partners are Regional Council of SW Finland, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Turku School of Economics, Novia University of Applied Sciences and University of Turku. In addition, everyone who is interested can participate in the planning of Lounaispaikka. Project planner: Pyry Liukas (pyry.liukas@varsinais-suomi.fi).
International forum
The project for improving the internationalization of Southwest Finland's economy life with a network of business services has as its aim to improve the internationalization and co-operation of the region and its businesses. This is done by developing the supply of private and public services, and by utilizing the region's international networks.
